LECTURERS

	Surgery Lecturer: Dr. Srikanth Garikaparthi Dr. Srikanth had his medical education in India, finishing his MBBS in 1990, Masters in Gen Surgery in 1995 and Fellowship in Hand surgery in 1999. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Hand Surgeons of Edinburg since February 2000. While in the process of doing his FRCS in the UK he got an opportunity to work in the Bahamas and has been working at PMH as a consultant plastic surgeon since 1999, becoming associated with the university in 2000. Dr. Srikanth was the intern surgery lecturer between Jun-Oct, 2002 and in Feb 2004 he assumed the post as Senior Lecturer in Surgery. He also coordinates the DM Surgery program at this campus.

	Medicine Lecturer: Dr. Christine Chin Having graduated from UWI Faculty of Medical Sciences, Mona in 1988, Dr. Christine Chin did her 2 year rotating internship at the Princess Margaret Hospital from 1988-1990. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and attained American Board Certification in 1993. After 3 years at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she worked as a Clinical Associate in the Medical ICU, she moved back with her husband, Dr. Williamson G. Chea (Associate Lecturer and Consultant in Surgery) to Nassau where she was made a Consultant at PMH in 1997. She had been an Associate Lecturer in Medicine at the UWI SCMR Bahamas since 1997 and became a full time Lecturer in January 2013. She is also Treasurer of the Medical Association of the Bahamas since 2008 and a member of the Family Life Commission of the Catholic Archdiocese of the Bahamas as of 2010.

	Paediatrics Lecturer: Dr. Corrine Sin Quee Dr. Corrine Sin Quee is the lecturer in Child Health and the only board certified Paediatric Haematologist/Oncologist in the Bahamas. She is a graduate from the University of the West Indies (Class of ‘82B), and was honoured to join the University at the start of the local clinical program, making her the longest serving member at this site (over ten years). She is an avid teacher and was the first recipient of funding from the Research Unit for her work on the “Development of a Maximum Surgical Blood Order Schedule (MSBOS) for the Bahamas”. She pushes the students with a determined effort for them to aim high and to strive for excellence, unwilling to settle for less. She encourages, by example the attendance and participation in CME activity, and the participation in the Medical Association of the Bahamas, as she feels strongly that these are important in the full development of a physician. Dr. Sin Quee’s dreams that one day the hospital will complete its transformation from service to a full teaching hospital, driven completely by highly motivated students and physicians in training and thereby improving the current standard of care.

	Obstetrics and Gynaecology Lecturer: Dr. Vrunda Sakharkar Dr. Vrunda Sakharkar is lecturer at UWI SCMR since 2000. She has obtained Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) and Certificate in Public Health from the University of Florida and MBBS and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Nagpur University in India. She has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for the last 19 years and plays a key role in curriculum planning, evaluation and assessment, academic advising, course development, postgraduate research and academic activities. She is an active member of curriculum and assessment committee for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UWI. She also is a member of UWI SCMR research Committee and has a keen interest in use of technology in education. Dr. Sakharkar is a member of several professional organizations, has published in peer reviewed journals and has presented scientific papers in various national and international conferences.
